Newborn Hippo Learns How to Swim with Help from Mom

A hippopotamus was born at the San Diego Zoo on Monday and the little calf is already learning how to swim just a day later,
the baby hippo will typically nurse for eight months so he will be staying close to his mom Called Funani. The zoo personal said that both mother and child are doing well and animal care staff have observed the calf nursing from Funani several times after the birth

The mama hippo has birthed 11 calves since 1989, five of which were born at the San Diego Zoo, mean while Funani was separated from the the calf’s father, Otis, two weeks ago in anticipation of the birth.
